Logo The Safe Schools Program is funded by the New Jersey Department of Education, Office of Career and Technical Education, to assist schools in reducing risk to occupational safety and health hazards in secondary school and work microenvironments in which New Jersey adolescents spend time.  The project is administered through the UMDNJ-School of Public Health (UMDNJ-SPH) and the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI).

Safe Schools involves a number of outreach components designed to support teachers, administrators, safety and health designees, structured learning experience/career orientation coordinators, county apprenticeship coordinators, cooperative education coordinators and those involved in school-to-careers. The following is a list of the current Safe Schools outreach components:

Bullet Safe Schools: a health and safety check.  This manual of checklists covers environmental and occupational safety & health regulations for secondary occupational and career orientation programs in New Jersey public schools.  The manual is updated twice per year.
